Allowing users to pay the difference upfront with Robux makes sense to us, and we hope it does for users too. Why send a potential trader off looking for an item to make up the difference when you can settle your deal with the addition of a few Robux? In order to make it easier to create equatable trades, we’ve got to change the way currency moves in ROBLOX.
Adding Robux to a trade will work like user-to-user sales work on ROBLOX today–there will be a 30% marketplace fee applied to the Robux involved in the trade . Here’s an example: if you’re trading hats, and add 100 Robux as incentive to make the trade, 30 Robux will be taken from you, the seller.

LuaLearners
LuaLearners, LuaLearners is one of the biggest scripting oriented groups on ROBLOX, with well over 4,500 members. The group was created as a resource for users to ask questions, give feedback, and communicate about all things scripting. The leader of the group is user Coolbob44, and we got a chance to talk with him about the popular community and their website, LuaLearners.org, which he created from scratch.
Even the contributors who are on-staff have to pass a test in order to write for the site–the fifteen question exam tests for grammar skills and scripting knowledge. If you don’t pass the test, you can’t write for the site. Simple as that. Coolbob44 has created a website that supplements ROBLOX, and we’re all for it if it encourages more and more users to build using our platform.
When you’re on the homepage of LuaLearners.org, you’re struck with the immediate sense that everything is in a state of flux. The Public Wall, where users can have discussions and share feedback right on the homepage, changesevery couple of seconds. You can literally watch users work through problems, share images, and congratulate one another on scripting achievements. In the last seven minutes (at the time of this writing) one user shared a custom video player he had just created. Another user linked to a forum thread he had just started, and asked for people’s thoughts on his proposal for a Book Appointment button on ROBLOX. Other users are congratulating a contest winner. Unmitigated, healthy interaction. It’s really neat.
LuaLearners.org was built to help ROBLOX users of all skill levels learn how to script. The website has a full staff of writers, moderators, and graphic designers, who all met through the LuaLearners group on ROBLOX. The blog section is updated daily, often with Lua challenges for users to discuss or participatein. The website also features scripting tutorials and a large forum, which is very similar to the one on ROBLOX.
“Our most popular forum is called Lua Help,” says Coolbob44. “It’s really active. Questions are always answered the day they’re posted.”
LuaLearners.org has developed a social aspect to it as well–users can create profiles (which can be synched to ROBLOX accounts), and user a personal messaging system to communicate privately with one another. Each profile has reputation points that users can earn through participating in activities–whether that’s actively helping others work through their scripting problems, posting in forums, or participating in contests and promotions. LuaLearners also features a strict set of rules very similar to the ones we uphold. They want their content to be accessible to people of all ages.
“We try to keep a very serious tone,” says Coolbob44. “People are here to learn. That’s why if you post swear words, we’ll ban you.”

Creating a fully functioning website was a daunting challenge for Coolbob44–the then thirteen year old had never created one before.
“Actually building a website that was useful was a huge challenge,” recalls Coolbob44. “I bought the domain and paid for hosting out of pocket. My biggest challenge initially was getting a good moderation team, and I got really lucky in that regard. I don’t know what I’d do without them.”
ROBLOX Community Manager Becky Herndon has been following the website since its inception a year ago. She had this to say: “LuaLearners is cool because they really encourage their community to participate. We’re proud that Coolbob44 has blended his passion for Lua and ROBLOX into this thriving entity. It could be just a blog, just a forum, or just a handy reference, but it manages to be all those things and more in one site. I encourage anyone curious about Lua scripting to check it out.”
Now that the website is up and running, Coolbob44 spends time with his group continuing to create content for the site and contributes to forums on ROBLOX. Having survived creating his first website, he offers this advice for people looking to create a web entity from scratch.
“With websites, you definitely don’t want to put something out there that you wouldn’t personally use,” says Coolbob44. “Spend extra time locking down security–if your website isn’t secure, people will find out and destroy it. And always have a healthy line of communication between you and your users.”

Team chat is a chatting feature added on ROBLOX in 2008. It can be activated by chatting "%" (percent) before typing the adorning message. The message will be sent to all the players who are in the same team as the player who typed the message. This function is only usable when the % is the very first character in the message, for example:
% Shoot that guy
Will come up in team chat.
% Shoot that guy
Will NOT come up in team chat since there is a space before the percent.
While using team chat, if you type:
% My team can see this
It will show up as:
(TEAM) My team can see this
Notice:You must put the "%" symbol next to your text, not a space.
Example:
%Get the flag.
If there is no team then the sentence will not say (TEAM) at the front and the % will be shown. The team that appears briefly if the player has a laggy computer (called neutral) does not get called as a "team," and if they type with the percents and attempt to teamchat nothing will happen. Team Chat is helpful for making up a plan or giving out a strategy for a game without the other team knowing, especially for war games with teams.
Normally, without team chat, the other player may know the plans and/or even attempt to foil the plan. However, because it comes from free chat, safechat players may not see the chat and may not even follow said command. Safechat players can include guests, players who have not yet created an account in Roblox, and players whose age is below the age of 13.
A common mistake that is made by newer users of Roblox is typing out (TEAM) instead of writing %. If (TEAM) is simply typed, it is not accepted as teamchatting, therefore the other team is able to read the context of the message.

Holiday season is already upon us, and so begins the Roblox tradition of giving out gifts to all of you. There's lots of ways to obtain the gifts, and each present has a different way to obtain them. We love it when you guys talk it out and figure out how to obtain the gifts before they go out!
That being said, no gift this year will ever require you to spam the forums with a certain phrase or word. Making posts like this will get your threads locked, or even get you warned or banned if you continue to do so. If you really do believe that saying something will get you a present, try to work it into normal sentence.
If you're unaware of how the holiday present event works, here's a short explanation: A gift will show up on the catalog, usually with a hint as to how to obtain it somewhere. Requirements to win said gift can be anything from just logging into Roblox on a certain day, helping a lot in the Help Section, or having a certain number of place visits. After a certain amount of time, the gift is given out to everyone who meets the requirements, then it goes on sale for the people who didn't meet the requirements but still want the gift.
